Here’s what we do and what we believe

The Catalan Youth Agency (CYA) is the Catalan Government department where we spend all our time ensuring young people and families from all over Catalonia - and from abroad! - can travel and enjoy the activities, experiences and advantages available to them. Our hostels are scattered around points of cultural interest in the mountains, on the coast and on the plains.

Social commitment

Xanascat is one of the CYA’s major projects and is called that because it is the National Network of Social Hostels of Catalonia. We seek to foster friendship and interaction for young people and the other hostellers who can have and share experiences in one of the facilities we have available.

Here at Xanascat our values are based on respect, friendship, tolerance and safeguarding the environment. We aim to provide everyone with the chance to explore Catalonia’s nature, history, cultural landscape, artistic movements, food and lots more!

Our hostels are the hub and base camp for exploring the surroundings of each Xanascat hostel and are designed to accommodate individuals, families and groups.

Food

We promote healthy and conscientious eating and educate in nutrition to publicise the importance of the Mediterranean diet, one of the most complete and balanced and which we are lucky to have available.

Plus we can cater for any allergies or intolerances our hostellers may have and tailor our set meals to their needs. However, please tell us in advance so we can serve a delicious dish which you can eat!

Quality and safety

All Xanascat facilities meet the requirements for providing accommodation. We also ensure the experiences and activities we run are fun and also premium quality and safe.

Xanascat hostels are registered in the Facilities Register of Catalonia for facilities where activities for children and young people are held. Plus we always conduct our activities responsibly to ensure they are done safely and to improve self-protection habits.

Hostelling International

We are members of the International Youth Hotel Federation (IYHF), a non-profit which has over 4,000 facilities worldwide. It is the largest and most extensive organisation of its kind on the planet!

Membership of Hostelling International ensures users get inexpensive, safe and quality accommodation because HI hostels have to meet specific standards. They also need to be committed to the environment and society and to helping people with greater needs.

Hostel card

In theory you need to have a hostel card to stay in a hostel. However, at Xanascat we want more people to be able to use our facilities, so everyone can stay in our hostels for a €2,05 supplement per night. If you have a hostel card you will get cheaper prices for some Xanascat activities.
