Lots of nature to discover
The Delta de l’Ebre is such a flat place that no matter where you are, you seem to be surrounded by the horizon. And in the middle are the rice paddies, the mouth of the Ebro, unique and extensive flora and fauna, and colours and scents that can only be found in this corner of the world.
What you can do and what can you visit?
You don’t have to stray too far from Poblenou del Delta Xanascat to find all this nature. You can reach its impressive bird-watching points either walking or by bike. And if you follow the bike lanes, they’ll take you to the sea or the river along secondary roads and rice paddies.
When you get to Poblenou, don’t forget to go to Els Alfacs Bay, rent a canoe or boat and head out to see the traditional mussel and oyster farms.
If you're hungry after sailing, you can discover the last meanders of the Ebro River, from Amposta to the mouth. Or you can visit terra firma following the bike lane that runs along the river.
Finally, to catch a great bird’s-eye view of the Delta de l’Ebre, climb to the top of the Montsià mountains, La Foradada, which is 800 metres tall.
